Extent of face in wudu?

Ques: Salam, when washing the face in wudu, I've read the face is between the top of the forehead to the bottom of the chin and from earlobe to earlobe. This sort of makes a square and would include part of ones hair. Is this part of the hair required to wash? Or is the face just the SKIN portion between the limits I stated, including a beard if one has one (this is what I always thought)? JazakAllah khair
